SECURITY AGENCIES IN KAMPALA DETECT TERRORISM THREAT IN KAMPALA ASK PUBLIC TO BE ALERT

Security agencies in the country have detected and gotten information about terrorist attack on Kampala most busy business areas of Kikuubo Kisekka Market, St. Balikudembbe (Owino) Market and other busy Arcades in the city Centre.

It’s from this back ground that they convened a meeting at Kikuubo Sky Arcade to alert the traders and the public at large to be vigilant and check thoroughly whoever is entering their premises to void terrorism incidences from occurring.

The Head community lesion police in the country CP Anatoli Mureterwa while addressing the traders and the area residents, argued the community to work with the area police OC Stations whenever they detect strange acts by some people in their area because this will help to get useful information that can lead to the arrest of terrorists.

“As police we can’t work in isolation of LC I officials because you are the one with the local masses therefore we need your hand if we are to fight ate stop terrorism acts.’’ Mureterwa said.

The Kampala Metropolitan Commander SCP Steven Tanui said that from now police will move with Dogs to screen the very busy places like Kikuubo, Kisekka and St. Balikuddembe markets as well as the busy Arcades to ensure that they are free from bomb threats.

He also cautions all people doing business in such places to not to allow people leaving things such as luggage , small bags, ‘Kaveera’ and other moveable items because these are the very things that terrorists use to carry the bombs and some materials they use to harm people.

“ We have detected and gotten information about terrorism attack by terrorists and from now onwards every person here in Kampala should do intelligence to each other. You should be spy to one another and help us by giving information such that we can fight terrorism acts and other forms of insecurity in the City. ‘’ SCP Tanui said.

He advised the mobile money dealer to stop carrying money in their bags home; that they should instead take this money to banks with even escort of police because this will help said not only their money but their lives also. He said that due to economic situations in the country there are many people that have resorted to theft acts

“ Robbers normally create networks and even at times connive with people around you who carry out spying on your movements when they detect that you have big money they trail you until they get you in an awkward area.’’ He said.

The commander of Military Police Brig. Gen.  William Bainomugusha who also attended the meeting said that security agencies have a duty to remind and tell the residents about the security situation in the area such that the public can be very alert and vigilant about the threat.

He said that although security personnel are trained to provide security services to the masses, the security should be a concern for all because in the absence of peace and security businesses can’t thrive and people can’t work anymore.
