A casual laborer at a construction site in Kitamanyangamba, Kagugube Parish in Kampala Central Division was shot dead by a security guard from the same site.
The Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, identified the victim as Andrew Tumwebaze 27, who was shot by Walugo Isma a security guard attached to Absolute Guard Services and Investigation Ltd.
Oweyesigere told Dailystarnews that the incident occurred on January 6th, 2024 at around 7:00 pm after the two developed over a debt of Ugx 2,000.
It’s alleged that Walugo was demanding UGX 2000 which he gave to his victim as a loan prior to the shooting. After demand Tumwebaze to pay him but in vain and on the fateful day they pick up quarrel which prompted the culprit to shot at Tumwebaze four bullets killing him instantly.
The KMP deputy spokesperson also revealed that a gun of ASR type with five rounds of arnmunation was recovered from the scene of crime and the body of the victim was pulled and hidden in one of the rooms of the unfinished building while the suspect is on the run and police has amount a search for him.
He also said that the body is still at Mulago City mortuary pending postmortem and efforts are being made to have Walugo arrested search that he can be committed to court to answer charges of murder.
Meanwhile Oweyesigire also revealed that police is investigating another murder of Chandiru Night 42,which occurred in Kibiri Kibiri A Zone in Makindye Ssaabagabo, Wakiso District on January 7th 2024.
It’s said that the deceased went with her boyfriend only identified as Samuel to the nearby swamp with to cut papyrus as it has been their business but unfortunately when the suspect returned home the step children asked him where about their mother and he lied to them that she had gone somewhere.
Due to suspicion they went to the papyrus swamp only to a dead body of their mother lying necked with cuts and they called police immediately which came and retrieved the body and took it to Mulago City mortuary as search for the suspect and investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Although nobody has informed police about a case of domestic violence between these two lovers, the deputy spokesperson said this could have resulted from the vice.
