The joint security operatives on July 2, 2023 put out of action 3 suspected ADF rebels, recovered 1 AK47 rifle and 20 bullets after an exchange of fire with the said rebels.
This was revealed to reporters by the Police Spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga in a weekly Press briefing at Naguru based police Headquarters. However he declined to reveal the identification of the suspects killed.
“Police together with sister security agencies managed to kill 3 suspected ADF rebels at Tonda Village in Nsara Parish, Lwamata Sub-county, Kiboga District after exchange of fire while they were trying to escape, one gun and 20 bullets were recovered.” SCP Enanga revealed.
He further revealed that another suspected ADF collaborator known as Christopher.. from Arua District was arrested at Mutukula Boarder trying to enter the country with a luggage carrying materials meant for making explosives, upon intarrogation,the suspect said that a Tanzanian hired him to carry the materials to Kasese and they were for gold mining.
He also said that Police in conjunction with CMI have also managed to dismantle ADF cells in areas of Butambala, Gomba, Lukaya and Kasangati, arrested the rebel collaborators in such areas. He argued the public to always be vigilant, report to security heads in their areas suspected people whom they see with unusual elements and also be keen especially when strangers rent their premises.
Meanwhile Enanga said that police is still stuck with the remains of 4 people who were killed in the Lhubiraha Secondary School in Mpondwe town, Kasese District during an attack by the ADF rebels, while another body of a girl in a decomposing state was recovered by UPDF who found it half buried when footpatroling the area.
Enanga SCP , said that out of the 18 bodies burnt to ashes, 4 remains have not been matched with any one and it’s from this note that he calls upon parents and relatives who had children studying in Lhubiraha Secondary to go and have DNA test such that they can be able to get the remains of their children and accord them a decent burial.
Five notorious thugs who have been terrorizing Mukono District were also arrested from Kazinga on Sunday following an attack on Anisha Nakalyango 26, a resident of Mukono Town Council who they stabbed with knives and stole her belongings. They have been mostly operating in areas of Kyetume, Kazinga and Bukasa.
The suspects were identified as Alex Golola, Pius Ssali, Joseph Matovu, Kitambala and Anthony, according SCP Enanga, they were arrested after a joint security operation when they tried attack the World Restoration Mission Church just after stabbing Nakalyango.
They are also suspected to have attacked and stabbed to death Caleb Muhumuza a mobile money dealer who was moving with his girlfriend Moreen Atuhirwe who survived with minor injuries after being also stabbed with knives.
