Defending Champions Vipers SC squandered their chances of climbing at the summit of Star Times Uganda Premier league after losing 1-0 to fellow title contenders Bull FC at the newly refurbished Mandela National Stadium.
The lone goal was scored by Jerome Kirya in the 16th minute who is in his second season playing for the Jinja based side having been recruited from SC Villa at the beginning of last season.
Alex Kitaata beat Vipers offside trap down the left flank and made a towering cross met by Kiirya in the penalty area who made no mistake and scored the lone goal to claim a double against the defending champions.
Bull FC have now leapfrogged Kitara FC and at the helm of the table at 49 points, who on Tuesday shared points at home with Mbarara FC having drawn 1-1 and the latter is now second on the table at 47 while Vipers SC remained in the third position with a game at hand at 46.
The fairly attended match that kicked off at 4pm was surprisingly dominated by the Jinja based side who are also still on course to defend their Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup having shared spoils three days ago.
Meanwhile KCCA FC beat Villa 2-0 in the other match of the day played at floodlights still at Mandela Stadium clossing the gap to only seven points behind table leader Bull FC with a game to spare.
Arua Hill are already relegated having while UPDF, Gaddafi and Jinja SS are still battling to remain in the elite league next season.
