Uganda men Parliament Association to fight for men’s rights has been launched

association that will help men in their social situations and solve the problems that hurt like husbands in parliament and in Uganda has been launched at the golf course hotel in Kampala.

Uganda men Parliament Association (UMEPA) is a non partisan parlimentary caucus for all male and female members of parliment.This forum was established in 2021 to collectively address negative masculinities and change the structured gender discrimination in laws and policies.

The forum seeks to engage and promote positive and transformative masculinities among men and boys as advocates and change agents for the realization of gender equality.

Uganda men Parliament Association (UMEPA) provides opportunities for male and female members of parliment

to engage Men and boys to address the escalating cases of Gender based violence,Teenage pregnancies and the negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic on social, political and economic sector.

The forum aslo focus on increasing awareness on sexual reproductive health right, human rights promotion and budget influencing at all levels.

Today minister of state Elderly Hon: Dominic Mafwabi Gidudu Gidudu launched the Uganda Men Parliament Association which is aimed at helping men have a common voice in solving the problems of men including domestic violence.

Minister Mafwabi Gidudu who represented Minister of Gender Hon Betty Amongi who was the chief guest at the opening of men’s association a message from Betty Amongi.

Also minister Betty Amongi congratulated Hon Kintu Brandon Alex as chairman of UMEPA for creating a men’s association to have one voice.

The Minister said most of the associations have been fighting for women only and he has never heard of any group or association fighting for men in Uganda and therefore Betty Amongi urged men to join the Uganda Men Parliment Association.

Elderly Minister Mafwabi Gidudu said it was time for men to have associations to help them solve their problems inside and outside their homes.

She said women are rich because they have associations that fight for them and if they have a dispute with their husbands they will destroy those associations and settle them.

Chairman of the Uganda Men Parliament Association UMEPA Kintu Brandon Alex said the association will help men fight for their rights those in government and those at home through UMEPA to convey their cause.

Brandon said that UMEPA to create champions of positive charge among Men in advancing gender sensitive political,laws and actions at regional national and sub national levels to influence development.
