Member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party support dissolution of their party and form a news one so as to overcome conflicts that have diverge leaders leading to the creation of two factions.
A report by Katonga faction Interim President, Erias Lukwago revealed that 17 out of 20 sub-regions support forming a new political party, while 3 sub-regions which include; Teso, Rwenzori and Acholi proposed reconciliation and recommended that delegates endorse the dissolution of FDC and establish a new party.
The Secretary General who is also the is heading the Najjanankumbi faction together with the President Amuriat Oboi, Nandala Mafabi denounced the Katonga Faction resolutions wondering where the so called leaders of the faction derived powers to convene a delegates’ conference.
“ I have the powers to convene a delegates’ conference as per the FDC constitution and ours was done early this year now members of FDC who attended that at Katongo were just there to take tea as they were passing time,’’ Nandala said.
The acting party president of Katongo Faction Erias Lukwago informed members that after six months they will again convene a delegates conference and announce the news party and also launch it at the same time.
The members of Parliament on FDC ticket are also divided some support the Katonga faction while others remained at Najjanankumbi.
Those at Katonga who even attended the so called delegates’ conference include; Ssemujju Ibrahin Nganda(Kira municipality),Asinansi Nyakato (Hoima City), Francis Mwejukye (Buhweju) ,Betty Aol Ochan (Gulu woman) and Namanya Naboth(Rubabo).
The party chairman Amb. Wasswa Birigwa, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago vice president Buganda region and other strong party members like Salam Musumba attended the conference at Katonga.
