Youths wake up and get involved in the Government’s self-development programmes

He urged all youths in Uganda to participate in the Government’s self-development programs to fight the scourge of poverty and also to enjoy their old age.

State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs Sarah Mateke was speaking at a press conference at the Media center in Kampala while addressing the celebration of Youth Day on 18th of this month in Kabale district where President Kaguta Yoweri Museveni Tibuhaburwa was expected to be the chief guest.

The theme of the day is to raise awareness of the youth most affected by the Covid 19 lockdown and the 2030 goals.

Minister Sarah Mateke said the government has abandoned many of those self-development programs but they are mainly focused on the youth.

Goloba Rogers from the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Development explained the significance of International Youth Day and said the government has a plan to launch in collaboration with the United Nations for the benefit of the youth.
