NINE ROBBERS ARRESTED AND 10 CARS RECOVERED BY POLICE

Police have arrested and detained 9 suspected motor vehicle robbers and 10 vehicles have been recovered from Iganga District where the robbers have hiding them.

This followed an operation mounted by Crime Intelligence police, Kampala Metropolitan and Iganga police that started at Kajjansi in Entebe Municipality extending to Iganga District where the motor Vehicle were being kept pending for sale.

The suspects arrested were identified as Makerere Dan, Bruhan Nkolawano, Mutebi Shafic, Mutebi Faisal,Kafeero Dirisa, Idinda Mubaraka and Margrete Nabirye among others. 

The police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga while addressing reporters in a weekly police briefing at Naguru based police headquarters said that robbers attacked the home of two Women at Kajjansi, Lumuli Zone in Wakiso District and forced them to surrender the key for their Spacio car.

He said they forced them into the car after rapping them, stole from them UGX 900,000 and 2 mobile phones, IDs. They then drove them away from home and took them to a forest near the National Medical Stores Headquarters were they tied them with ropes and they disappeared with their Vehicle.

“The robbers are very much organized, we discovered that they have a wide gang country wide and they coordinate their activities.” Enanga said.

He also said that after  crime Intelligence police received information teaming up with KMP and Iganga Police ,they commenced the operation leading to the arrest of Bruhan Nkolawano from Ndanda Village, Iganga district with a stolen from Kajjansi ,Spacio white in colour, registration number UAX 773C which had been changed to UAT 382E

Other Vehicles recovered include; a Noah UAR 297Q, Prado (green)UAT 385G, Spacio VAT 019U, Harrier UAW 538K, Premio grey in color No.UAH 763U, Corona Saloon (black) UAG 127T, Noah(blue) UAR 297Q and a Fuso lorry (white) UAQ 148 F.

The police spokesperson also informed the reporters that the vehicles will be transferred to Kampala and those whose where stolen should go to CPS with the details of their vehicles. Investigations into the matters are still ongoing.
