The Opposition Alliance for National Transformation Party (ANT) has criticized President Museveni for appoint his son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) saying that this is an entrenchment of the family rule in a sovereign State.
The former MP for Arua Municipality Kassiano Ezati Wadri a member of ANT said that President Museveni was very calculative when he gave absolute powers CDF then Gen. Wilson Mbadi just after one months to make a reshuffle and appoint his son as the overall commander including the SFC yet initially was later was only answerable to him.
Kassiano said that this was a clear indication of entrenching a family rule that Ugandans should come out and fight before the State takes the Korea way of ruling.
“As a country we should press ourselves for this high huddle and we shouldn’t allow things to go the way they are. These things were planned in Rwakitura many years back and they have now started implementing what they planned.’’ Kassiano said.
He further said, “ when president Museveni was assuming power he said that the problem with African leaders is over staying in power which has caught up with him leading to him ‘eating his own words’, he is now not interested in handing over power to anybody even when he is on his dying bed.
He also criticized president Museveni for failure to trim his cabinet size yet government embarked on cutting administrative costs through merging of its various agencies and abolishing others.
“ Government has been trying to cut down administrative costs through re-aligning of its agencies in the say way I expected President Museveni in the reshuffle to trim his cabinet at least to a number that does not strain our economy but he only dropped four and again appointed them as his advisers.’’ He said.
The former legislator for instance said Tanzania has a bigger economy compared to that of Uganda with a huge population size and area in terms of acreage but has a cabinet of only 29 ministers. He said Uganda should also copy a leaf from our neighbors if we are to cut administrative cost.
Former MP for Ntungamo Municipality Gerald Karuhanga who is the spokesperson of ANT political party called on the youth to desist from being used because they are ever asking of the daily bread, encouraging them to come out and start fighting for their future.
Karuhanga said that what is now ruining political parties and the young people is the attitude of individual benefit which president Museveni and his NRM party capitalizes on to prolong his stay in power.
He said that ANT is continuing with the program of traversing the country to tell and alert Ugandans about the dangers of continuing with the family rule and they have so far reached to 29 districts in each at most 10 counties have been covered.
The ANT spokesperson also attacked the president for not having the zeal to fight corruption on to attack and rebuke those patriotic Ugandans on social media who are concerned about the way Parliament has ruined its reputation and built mistrust before the public.
