Relief as the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom finally lands at Entebbe Air in the morning hours of Monday 22nd July 2024 from Namibia where he was hospitalized for three solid months receiving medication.
There has been tension in Buganda which kept media a washed with all sorts of rumors about the majesty’s health were many people have been bashing the Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga on social media demanding to know where about of the their Kabaka.
The clan heads known as ‘Abattaka’ last week travelled to Namibia with an aim of visiting the Kabaka but where denied a chance to see him due to the restrictions by the hospital administration.
They insisted to see him and tried to walk in protest going to the area where he was receiving his medication but where put to preventive arrest by the authorities in Nambia and came back last week after failing to see his majesty.
The monarchy’s own broadcaster BBS TV, was able to telecast the Kabaka’s arrival at Entebbe Airport at 9:00am where he was welcomed back by the Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga, his family members including Prince Jjunjju Kiwewa his elder son, the Queen mother Sylvia Nagginda and other high ranking dignitaries from Mengo government.
Prince Jjunjju who spoke on behalf of the Royal family condemned the acts of some Baganda which he said ashamed the Kingdom and portrayed a bad image indicating the high level of indiscipline which contradicted the culture and norms of the people of Buganda.
“ On behalf of Kabaka and then Royal family, we want to apologize to the government of Namibia for the negative talks directed to the authorities,’’ Jjunjju said.
He also called on the subjected to continue playing for Kabaka because he is still undergoing medication and family member will be helping him in his recovery process.
“Some people who have been attacking the Prime Minister on especially on social media are self-seekers who be listened because what they say don’t help to develop the monarchy and are diversionary’’. He said.
The Prime Minister Mayiga rallied the Kabaka’s subjects to be patient as Kabaka continues to recover properly such that he can be able to resume his work.
“Kabaka needs to be heath to do his work well. We prioritize his health. We have been doing his work even in his absence and we need to continue doing it,’’ Mayiga said.
