Suspected Allied Democratic Forces are alleged to have attacked Kasese again and one person was killed in the incident and a truck burnt.
President Museveni in his ’ X’ twit on Sunday 15th that the Congo-based Ugandan terrorist group, Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), were possibly behind the Thursday 12th October night attack in Kasese during which one person was killed.
“This is to inform you that yesterday, on 14th of October, 2023, our fighter-bombers paid a visit to the ADF terrorists at 4 different points. These points were at: 72kms, 120kms, 69kms and 130kms from the border on the Bundibugyo-Semiliki side. It seems quite a number of terrorists were killed.’’ His twit reads in parts.
He also said that as a consequence, the terrorists are running from Congo which they thought was heaven and re-entering Uganda and trying to commit some random terrorist acts.
The attack on a truck carrying onions to the market across the border in Congo the other day, 12kms from the border near Bweera, Kasese, may have been by such elements.
The Public is, therefore, alerted to look out for strange People that come to your area. Report them to the Police that are nearest to you. Even relatives that have been away for a long time and suddenly return. They may be part of the terrorists.
“The attack on a truck carrying onions to the market across the border in Congo the other day, 12 km from the border near Bweera, Kasese, may have been by such elements,” said Museveni in a statement on Sunday evening.
Deputy Army spokesperson, Col Deo Akiiki, on Friday 13th October said that an estimated five armed ADF elements ambushed a trailer at 1:00am which was carrying onions from Kisoro to Mpondwe Lhubiriha border and burnt it.
“This happened at Katojo Junction along Bwera-Kinyamaseke-Kasese Road in Kasese District,”.“The trailer had four occupants,” he emphasized, adding that UPDF squads were tracking down the attackers.
In June, this year ADF terrorists killed 41 people in an attack on a school in Kasese near the DRC border and UPF raided them capturing and killing a sized number.
Museveni however urged the public to “look out for strange people that come to your area” and “Report them to the Police that are nearest to you.”
He further warns, “Even relatives that have been away for a long time and suddenly return. They may be part of the terrorists.”
